Little Man Mustache Birthday Bash : Little Man Centerpieces

Hello again,

I have a little man that is turning one. I'm at the stage of planning where I'm trying to figure out the decoration. I always start by trying to figure out what I can upcycle or reuse. I love the idea of going green and keeping as much green as I can in my pockets. That school of thought inspired me to make Little Man Centerpieces from formula cans.

Supplies Needed:
Several Empty Formula Containers (Number needed depends on number of tables)
Mod Podge
Foam Brush
Pencil
Paper Cutter ( You can also use a straight edge and scissors)
12x12 Scrapbook Paper (Preferably some that compliments your theme)

Optional Supplies: (Needed to customize to Little Man Theme)
White Stickers
Black Marker
Skewers
Tape
Assortment of pictures
Decorative Shred Paper
Napkin
Ribbon
Foam (floral or any type)

Step 1: Clean Container. We want to start with a fresh base. So gently remove the paper from the outside and gently wipe the inside with a damp cloth. Keep the wrapper. It will help you.

Step 2: Measure the paper needed to go around the container. If you saved your wrapper, this will be easy. Place the wrapper against the back of the scrapbook paper and mark off where you need to cut. If you don't have the wrapper, just use a tape measure to determine dimensions and mark them on the back of the scrapbook paper. With the 12x12 paper that I had and the size container, I was able to get two usable strips of paper and one that wasn't quite the right size to use. I saved it for another project.

Step 3: Apply Mod Podge to the back of the scrapbook paper. Focus on the edges of the paper.

Step 4: Wrap scrapbook paper around the formula container. Make sure to cover the portion where the original wrapper was. Smooth as you go along. Make sure to let the container dry thoroughly before moving on to the next step.

Step 5: You can stop here or personalize the centerpiece according to your theme. Since I'm going with a little man theme, I'm adding buttons and a bow tie. The bow tie is made from a napkin and ribbon. The napkins were the small party napkins. I used the diagram below.

Step 6: Next, we will make the buttons by coloring the white labels black. Then place two buttons on the strip of exposed container.

Step 7: Grab your skewers and pictures. Gently tape the skewer on the back of the picture using two pieces of tape. As long as you are gentle, the tape will come right off when you are done using them.

Step 8: I waited to put the skewers into centerpiece on the day of the party. It will make them easier to transport. Place the foam in the bottom and then stick skewers in. Use the decorative shred paper to cover the foam and the base of the container. Then you are all done!

They are so cute and really added dimension to the event. I hope that you like them!

Happy Planning!

Bethanie
